SUSTAINABLE HOTEL IN MUNICH

Sustainability is getting increasingly important in the hotel industry – and this also applies to the Excelsior by Geisel in Munich. Under the heading of “Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR), we are constantly evolving to implement and improve the sustainability of our hotel in all areas. In addition to environmental friendliness and resource conservation, this also includes sustainable management and the assumption of social responsibility.

1. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF RESOURCES

In the area of environmental protection, the top priority lies in the conservation of natural resources with the aim of giving them the opportunity to regenerate.

This includes, among other things, the efficient and most economical use of energy, the minimization of waste and emissions and the use of environmentally friendly materials.

We are introducing new concrete measures to ensure economical energy consumption and a high level of environmental friendliness. These include:

– Installation of UV-protective films

– Switching to energy-saving LED lighting

– Waste separation

– Use of energy-efficient, modern conference equipment

– Paper-free communication

– No air conditioning in 50% of the rooms in our hotel in order to reduce energy consumption.

We also focus on sustainability in the area of mobility at Hotel Excelsior:

– Excellent public transport connections and location directly at Munich’s main railway station.

– Public multi-storey car park with e-charging points (Elisenhof) just a few minutes’ walk away at reduced rates for our guests

By economic sustainability, we mean a way of doing business that spans generations and can be sustained. This includes, among other things:

– Responsible compliance with tax obligations

– Investment in local infrastructure

– The creation of secure jobs

At our hotel in Munich, we have a long-standing relationship with our employees. We strengthen this through regular team events and compelling benefits.

As a family-owned and operated private company, we put people first in all our daily activities and decisions. We are careful to balance our commitment to the hotel’s employees with our responsibility to society and the environment. This is not a marketing statement, but an integral part of our corporate philosophy, which is lived by all employees.

PROGRAM TO IMPROVE SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR MUNICH HOTELS

There is no doubt that we can draw a good interim conclusion after the first few years, but there is still room for improvement. We want to improve further in the coming months and years, particularly in the areas of packaging waste, energy consumption and supplier monitoring.

SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH HEALTHY GROWTH

Even when “corporate social responsibility” has not been a term yet, at least parts of the concept was at the heart of business activity at Excelsior. After all, companies act sustainable when they are not only concerned with short-term profit, but also fulfill their social obligations. One of these obligations is, for example, creating secure jobs and supporting the local economy. Through healthy growth and intelligent investments, the Geisel family has succeeded in doing this over the course of a century: The development from Oktoberfest tent operator to one of the most renowned hotel groups and one of the most popular employers in Munich confirms this.
